Some families haven't been in one frame together in years. Not because no one wanted it, life just gets in the way, and then one day someone isn't there to be photographed anymore. This is a portrait built for the family you have, right now, exactly as it is.
Why it matters
Everyone has photos from birthdays, from Christmas, from someone's phone held up at the last minute. None of them are a portrait. A portrait of your family, done properly, isn't something you already have. It's something made with intention, printed large, and given the kind of presence in your home that a photo on a phone never will.
This isn't a shoot squeezed in between other plans. It's the whole family, together, treated like it matters, because it does.
How it works
1. The Conversation
We talk first, about your family, who's involved, and what you're picturing. This is also where we work out the practical side, where the portrait will happen and what it'll take to bring everyone together properly. In person, by phone, or over a coffee.
2. The Session
Larger family groups don't fit in a studio, so I bring the studio to you: full lighting, and a backdrop where the setting allows, so the result has the same considered look as anything shot indoors. What's required of your family is simple: show up, and be together.
3. The Viewing
The whole family returns to see the work, or I bring it to you. Presented properly, with no distractions. This is where you see, all at once, what it looks like to have everyone in one frame.

This is about your family, not me. But it's worth knowing why this matters to me.
I always meant to photograph my mother properly. There was always going to be a better time, next year, after this or that. There wasn't. We never did it, and it's the one thing I still regret. I don't want that for you.
That's why I photograph the way I do. Trends come and go: harsh light one year, mismatched tones the next. I don't chase them. My style is elegant and timeless, made to still mean something in twenty years, not just look current for one.
18 years behind a camera has taught me one thing above all: a portrait only works if it's about the people in front of it. Not a style. Not a trend. Them.
